The purpose here is not to duplicate the original image, from Okinawa Soba's stream, but to generate a downloadable animated gif to assist viewing and presentation. Soba-san notes that the original B&W image, which he has titled Gazing at Blossoms in a Rustic Park of Old Japan, dates to the 19th century. This is one of many contact prints (proofs) from the studio of master photographer T. Enami.

Copyright Advisory
Okinawa Soba posted several CC licensed stereoimages, including the largest available collection documenting Japanese life and culture from the Meiji period through the early 20th century. Most have no known restrictions on publication and the digital images are shared under a creative commons share-alike license.

ink!

A Photo a Day - May 13, 2010.

Ink. It's probably one of the most expensive liquids on the planet. On single cartridge of black ink for my printer is .00 after sales tax. I can't find numbers anywhere on the actual amount of ink that's in a cartridge, but guessing by the size of it, it can't be more than a fluid ounce. That equates to about 04.00 per gallon. So now gas prices don't look so bad after all (we're about .80-.50/gal in Maryland). Even if you fill up more than you do replacing ink, I think you still come out ahead.

The only thing that may be more expensive than ink would be certain medications. I know that Epogen is highly expensive. A quick search on Google shows that a 1mL vial is going for around .00. That equates out to roughly 1,725.00 per gallon!

Think about this the next time you hit "PRINT".

by American Photographer Evan Santé: New York, London, San Francisco

Like the rest of the world; I have fallen in love with my iPhone and the creative freedom the various camera / editing applications provide… Unthinkable only a few years ago, I often find myself choosing to leave home without my DSLR. To be sure, there are tradeoffs but Camera Phone Photography offers a flexibility and style that is unique within the digital art world.

Much like Googled; iPhoneography has become a generic term representing any type of image taken with a mobile device.

All of the images contained within this photoset were created using one of my iOS Devices. You can find the specific information on Device, Camera & Processing Application’s used in the Tags section.
