My friend Blubrando had some problems to get a nice flou effect on his rose.
Here it is my very personal version elaborated with The Gimp.
What I do:
- set the cyan saturation to 0 to avoid the fringed border
- duplicate the background level
- applied a gaussian blur to the top layer (12 pixel)
- added a mask to the top layer
- filled the mask with a round gradient, to have a soft hole in the center

L'amico Blubrando aveva un po' di problemi ad applicare un effetto flou ad una delle sue rose.
Ecco la mia versione molto personale rielaborata con il Gimp.
Cosa ho fatto:
- ho portato la saturazione del ciano a 0 per evitare le frange colorate
- ho duplicato il layer di sfondo
- ho applicato una sfocatura gaussiana al layer in primo piano (12 pixel)
- ho aggiunto una maschera di livello
- ho riempito la maschera con una sfumatura radiale, lasciando un buco nero sfumato nel centro
