Download and change file extension from .jpg to .mpo to view this image as a 3D image on 3D compliant TV screens. Flickr's new uploader will allow you to upload .mpo files. The Flickr software then changes the extension to .jpg but the file is still in the .mpo format. When the image is downloaded it also is still in the .mpo format but has the .jpg extension that Flickr gave it. Once downloaded, all you need to do is change the extension back to .mpo to view it in 3D provided you have a 3D TV.

Cool Photo Art images

A few nice photo art images I found:

Smoke Art - Esoic
photo art
Photographing smoke art is one of the most rewarding aspects of home photography. We've all seen the wispy strands that float and glide through the air, but it's not until these trails are frozen in time do we see the true beauty and elegance of their construction.

In many images it's possible to see a subject within the smoke.

The advantage of smoke art photography is that - compared to water droplets - the patterns take longer to form so it's easier to judge when to take the shot. It's when the scene is viewed on the screen that the true diversity and uniqueness of the patterns is realised.

This was processed in Photoshop to highlight the patterns that exist within the formations.

The smoke was created by burning an incense stick and the light was a flashgun behind and below at an angle of 45° upwards. The result was processed in Photoshop.

Like the rest of the world; I have fallen in love with my iPhone and the creative freedom the various camera / editing applications provide… Unthinkable only a few years ago, I often find myself choosing to leave home without my DSLR. To be sure, there are tradeoffs but Camera Phone Photography offers a flexibility and style that is unique within the digital art world.

Much like Googled; iPhoneography has become a generic term representing any type of image taken with a mobile device.

Family Formal
family photo
At a sales convention in Oklahoma, 1979. I had a blast on that trip. It was held at a "Pioneer Village" resort. One night we had a luau with a roast pig. My "Uncle" Ned, Dad's best friend was there, too - he was fun to be around. Mom got a big laugh at the museum at the "Pioneer" village because it had cases of things we had at home like Barbie dolls and Frankoma pottery.

This photo is the junk copy that got stuck in an small album for me. The "good" versions (open-eyed Dad not towering over me & mom) were in the family album on the coffee table, so they burned. Kind of ironic that only the discarded one survived.

I've resurrected my wife's old HP laptop and figured it would be perfect for a digital photoframe project.

Some of my ideas:

Configurable slideshows from a local or networked disk

Ability to display a Flickr stream from RSS feeds and certain tags

Possibly realtime weather, time?

All of this is more of a dream at this point, as I am not much of a coder :), but a confident hacker.

From what I can tell via online research, this is a "Sunshine Yellow Maleri" (Aulonocara Maleri or Aulonocara sp.). (Sorry, my field is marine + a few freshwaters, definitely not ciclids, so I had to Google Image "yellow ciclid" to find it. ^^;)

Anyway, there's a bio(?) of this type of fish here and more photos of it here so you can judge if I got the sp. id right.

Nice Free Photo Software photos

A few nice free photo software images I found:

Flickr.Manager
free photo software
As you may know Flickr has an excellent API and there is a good .NET library that implements that API. It's name is FlickrNet (http://www.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?ProjectName=FlickrNet). Current software that can manage your Flickr stuff isn't very comfortable and useful so i decided to make a tool for me to manage Flickr photos, to upload them, to view my contact's photos, to backup, to make comments, to search etc.
To do the task i created a .NET application using the abovementioned library. The app is free. It doesn't do many things i have planned but i would like to show it other people for testing purposes. The app has no documentation yet but it'll have.

System requirements:

Windows XP SP2/Windows Vista
.NET Framework 2.0 (Vista includes it by default)

The application has English and Russian interface (depends upon current session language).

You can download it from here www.egoroff.spb.ru/download/Flickr/setup.exe

Bugs and comments send to flickrmanager (at) gmail.com

PS: And finally i eat my own dog food i.e. i use the tool myself.

Disk Inventory X revisited
free photo software
This tool makes a cushion tree map of the contents of your hard disk(s). Each "cushion" is a file, and its size in the image corresponds to its file size on disk. The different colors are mapped to different file types (for example, blue is JPEG files, yellow is application bundles). What's special is that the cushions are arranged in such a way that they show the directory structure. A rectangular area full of cushions is a directory, which may of course contain subdirectories, which are visualised by smaller rectangular areas inside of it.

It's a very good piece of free software, and I think it's come a long way since I last tested it. It's pretty fast (went through my entire 70 GB disk in a couple of minutes), apparently quite stable and makes it very easy to spot big files. Also, it's a neat toy to play around with, if you are a nerd.

Exifer tutorial: Introduction
free photo software
Exifer tutorial part 0 of 7: Introduction.
For the past few years, I've been applying EXIF and IPTC data directly to my photos before uploading them to Flickr. This has been helpful to me because I now have the same photo info on my computer as I do in Flickr; previously, I'd post a photo to Flickr and then add all the metadata to it; the photo on my computer would be left without the metadata that was later added to Flickr. Additionally, as soon as I upload photos to Flickr, the title, description, and other metadata are already correct, so people don't have to wonder what "IMG_1349" is. Hopefully you'll get the idea from the photo tutorial in this set. Download Exifer (Windows only) first and get a feel for its interface, then dig in to the tutorial!
1. Editing with Exifer
2. Dates
3. Title and description
4. Tags
5. XnView uploading
6. Adding GeoTags
7. GeoTagging tools

IMPORTANT: Note that the Yuan.CC tools (Flickr Group page) I mention evolve every few weeks; I only expect them to get better! My technique is nowhere near perfect, (Exifer only works in Windows, for example); I have to use several tools to get the job done and it would be nice if a software engineer could come up with a simple, catch-all app. Exifer turned out to be the best, though, after trying several other metadata editors. Visit the Flickr Hacks and Yuan.CC group discussions for the latest developments.

Also important to note: Test your photo editing program before and after using Exifer. Many newer programs don't have this problem, but Paint Shop Pro 9, for example, strips the IPTC data from photos. I try to retouch and crop my photos and then add metadata with Exifer afterwards to make sure I don't run into this problem. Most of the screenshots in this set use my Doggles 2 photo. Hopefully this tutorial will be even more helpful than July's Flickr Enhancements (outdated). Consult The Free Dictionary if you need help with the terminology.

Please make general comments on the main set page. Specific comments can be added to each picture, as well.

ABOUT ROAMING DRAGON
www.RoamingDragon.com

Roaming Dragon came to life as two lifelong friends identified a major void in Vancouver’s food scene…the absence of restaurant quality food being served via Food Trucks!

Since launching in June 2010, Roaming Dragon has earned praise for our menus, our involvement as leaders in the food truck revolution, and for elevating the food truck experience across Canada.

Roaming Dragon can be seen on the streets of Vancouver, catering the city’s most exciting events, at a Farmers Market, or participating in charity events.

We specialize in authentically unauthentic Pan-Asian deliciousness. We offer unique interpretations of dishes and flavours familiar throughout Southeast Asia.

The combination of food, music, smells, and smiles from our team make the journey to the Dragon special. We’re PROUD of our team, PROUD of our food, PROUD of our suppliers, and most of all PROUD to serve our customers.

An Annotated Guide to the First Orbital Image
image website
Image by NASA Goddard Photo and Video
NASA image acquired: March 29, 2011

This historic first orbital image of Mercury was acquired 37 years to the day after Mariner 10’s historic first flyby of the innermost planet. Labels have been added to indicate several craters that were named based on Mariner 10 images, as well as Debussy, Matabei, and Berkel, which were named based on MESSENGER flyby images. The surface contained in the white lines is terrain previously unseen by spacecraft, and the star indicates the location of the south pole.

On March 17, 2011 (March 18, 2011, UTC), MESSENGER became the first spacecraft to orbit the planet Mercury. The mission is currently in its commissioning phase, during which spacecraft and instrument performance are verified through a series of specially designed checkout activities. In the course of the one-year primary mission, the spacecraft's seven scientific instruments and radio science investigation will unravel the history and evolution of the Solar System's innermost planet. Visit the Why Mercury? section of this website to learn more about the science questions that the MESSENGER mission has set out to answer.

Formed in 2001, given U.S. charitable status in 2004, and Canadian charitable status in 2007, the Steve Nash Foundation is a private foundation dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life. Like its NBA MVP founder, the Foundation is fast becoming a leader in assists . . . to a slightly shorter population.

Through our own initiatives, and through grants to public service and nonprofit entities in British Columbia, the Foundation aims to grow health in kids by funding projects that provide direct services to children affected by poverty, illness, abuse, or neglect, and create opportunity for education, health, and empowerment. We love the opportunity to get involved in the good work being done by child-focused ngo’s in our home province.

The Foundation also seeks to afford thoughtful solutions to community needs through our own projects to address critical health and education needs. The Foundation focuses its resources on underserved populations of children in British Columbia, Arizona, and the country of Paraguay. Equipping a neonatal intensive care ward in Asuncion to provide basic necessities for infants and their families, developing an early childhood education center of excellence to bring best practices to young kids that don’t always enjoy that access in Arizona, and uniting civic outreach, corporate and social service organizations to show kids how to get involved in their communities are examples of the daily work of the Foundation’s small but dedicated staff. Stemming from our first ever Steve Nash Foundation Charity Classic, held in Toronto, Ontario, in 2005, the Foundation is also working closely with the City to establish an all-access, all-kids after-school center there to build hope through hoops for kids.

While our work focuses exclusively on child welfare, we believe that corporations must share responsibility for the well-being of our communities. The Foundation employs and encourages environmentally-friendly office practices, and offers grantees assistance in developing their own recycling and energy conservation programs (check out our Green Leaf here). We also like to highlight the important work of other individuals and organizations, using our website links to increase their exposure, and contribute to their efforts. Further, we are proud to be working with young people that excel in their chosen fields, from whom we welcome energetic leadership and fresh voices.

I love the life radiating of the playing kids in the fountains on Bundesplatz in Bern. It's really edifying and vitalizing to just stick around and follow the rumbling. So much joy flowing there!
