When I finished this photo, I noticed some strange "artifacts" on the bottom, on the water. At first I thought I did something wrong in the processing, and then I found that it's the reflection of the clouds :)

Marie’s new camera with my new lens. I bought the lens because it’s sharper and focuses on these new bodies.
Shooting notes: Obviously 1/6sec, even with image stabilization, could do with a higher ISO or better lighting. That’s why I chose to black and white it.
Editing notes: A lot of filtering was done in order to make the image look a lot better than it is. Some control points were added to dodge the camera deep in shadow—the film processing is very contrasty. I like the reverse contrast provided by the blue filter—the difference on a black camera (wood foreground) is subtle but noticeable. Of course, a lot of vignetting is going on. It’s nice you can choose the point in Silver Efex Pro.

The water streets of Venice are canals which are navigated by gondolas and other small boats. During daylight hours the canals, bridges, and streets of Venice are full of tourists eager to experience the romance of this great travel destination. As night engulfs the town, tourists enjoy some fine dining at one of the many restaurants, leaving the waterways and streets quiet.
The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian Lagoon. For centuries gondolas were once the chief means of transportation and most common watercraft within Venice. In modern times the iconic boats still have a role in public transport in the city, serving as ferries over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. Their main role, however, is to carry tourists on rides throughout the canals. Gondolas are hand made using 8 different types of wood (fir, oak, cherry, walnut, elm, mahogany, larch and lime) and are composed of 280 pieces. The oars are made of beech wood. The left side of the gondola is longer than the right side. This asymmetry causes the gondola to resist the tendency to turn toward the left at the forward stroke.

This exact frame reminds me of film prints from the past. I loved to shoot sky on fujifilm superia 200. The prints were amazing back then.

today i learned the genius of applying cross-processing colour effects after conversion to black and white, here is one of my early efforts.
I took the pic today from the top of Foundation Street car park in Ipswich, looking over the new-build luxury flats, of which there are waaay too many for such a hole of a town.
