I went completely down to the river for this shot. I will probably end in the river one day while doing this, as standing on the rocks is not so easy. But the shot came out nicely.

004 / 365 - Colorful light

My last few photos dealt the theme light. So i wanted to go on with it.
During my nightly walk i saw the lights of a circus. Yesterday i bought a book about inspiration and found two techniques used in this photo. The first one is negative space and the second one explicit unsharpness.
I have made several photos today (using several techniques), but this one is the best.

Natural Bokeh in the Morning Light

A natural form of "bokeh" produced from the strong early morning light across my carport outside my front door. The folk art owl has been featured in many early photos on my stream, as has been the old, weathered chair. The light is so bright and comes in at a sharp angle towards the adobe wall. The many slender pomegranite trees on the other side of the wall produce these circles of bokeh shadows. Irresistible to try to capture!

This was taken in an old Victorian building using only natural light. The sun was streaming into the room through the window - due to the way the window was recessed it created a sharp rectangular area of light with shadow at the sides and on the floor. Kelly was wearing a 1930s vintage dress and I loved the contrasts created by having her stand in front of the window.

Light Fitting on the Mayflower Hotel, Washington DC.

It is the largest luxury hotel in the U.S. capital and the longest continuously operating hotel in the Washington D.C. area, and a rival of the nearby Willard InterContinental and Hay-Adams Hotels. The Mayflower is known as Washington, D.C.’s “Second Best Address” (second to the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.), a reference attributed to President Harry Truman during his stay at the hotel during White House renovations.
