Here is my first attempt at a time elapsed animation. It's a little shaky because I didn't have my tripod and it's not quite as many frames as I would like.
I must give credit for this idea to David Sleep.

It Seems Like A Century
This is an agave that is in the St. Joseph's Hospital outdoor break area, taken this afternoon. My son had seizures that would not stop, so we had yet another adventure. However, I notice that great beauty also accompanies such dramatic episodes in our lives, so this image is presented for the pleasure of all my flickr friends.
The original size is quite exceptional and I hope visitors will take a look. The real name of the plant is the "Century Plant" and I pictured it about 12 images ago in my photo stream from the images I shot at night from this very same place. Since the original is very very huge, here is the "large" size.

Poinsettia Tree Composition
A giant poinsettia tree in San Diego, California. This tree near a home in the Pacific Beach area is about 14' tall! I could not believe it when I saw the spindly tree with the bright red flowers and struggled to identify it. Then when I figured out it was a poinsettia I was totally amazed. What a surprise to see this plant grow to such a size! I am used to seeing folks grow a large plant once they've kept a plant from Christmas decor, but never more than 4 or 5' tall. Twas quite a beauty next to the pale adobe wall. Best to see in the largest size.

starblue
This mosaic was created using a free program trial version of Easy Mosaic 2005, which I found linked in the group description for digital fragments tonight. This is a cobalt blue star wall lamp that is at my local IKEA store. I used images from several folders of "My Pictures" and also some images from the image library of the program. Took an hour to create, and almost blew out my system. Word to the wise, when you upload the image to use, think twice about the file size of the original image! Ha ha, I forgot that this one was created with the UNEDITED photo I took several weeks ago. Oy!

Decorated Saab car as sculpture (back-er)
Fittingly, the license plate said "MEOW".
See this picture for a little more of the hood.
I'm not sure which Saab model it is: maybe a 90s vintage 900 or 9000, or maybe a 2000-ish 9-3 (first generation) or 9-5.
In any case, the real answer is that this car is truly one of a kind now.

UPDATE 12 Jan 2010: Spotted again! I saw the car while driving through Harvard Square this morning, and was able to stop & get a few more photos of this magnificent, magnificent beast of a car -- and with the better camera, too. Enjoy!

UPDATE 30 Mar 2010: The hunt is on! Teresa Hanafin at Boston.com's RAW Blog today ran Who drives this funny car?, in which a Globe reader from Andover is asking for info about the owner of the car, noting that it has been several times in Boston's northwest suburbs (Burlington, Arlington, Andover, Cambridge, etc). According to some commenters, the owner may live (or work?) in Belmont, as it seems like it's seen there pretty often.
I don't want to infringe on the driver's privacy too much, unless she wants to "out" herself as the owner of this fine machine, so I'll simply add the handful of clues that I have:
• Both times I've seen the car, a woman was driving it.
• When I saw it in Harvard Square in January, she was wearing a Dr Seuss hat.
• When I saw it near the Museum of Science in July 2008, there was a couple of kids in the back seat, one with curly (red?) hair.
• She's way ahead of you on the "EYESORE" jokes :-)

UPDATE 31 Mar 2010: The Boston.com blog post ferreted out the info within hours:
Jenny wrote to let us know that a correspondent for one of the Globe's regional editions wrote about the car, identifying the owner, about a year and a half ago.

View On Black Much better large on black!
Well we finally got the big dump of snow in Clinton Township with some areas getting as much as twelve inches! I was waiting for a day with some sun and it looked like Saturday might grant that wish and it did for a short time around 10am. I parked my car in the unplowed lot of Canal Park and ventured into the woods. As people drove by they were looking at me like I was nuts. The whole trail had about a foot of snow with some drifts getting higher and it was like being on a stairmaster as I trudged a half of mile through the backwoods trails. To my disappointment, a lot of things I thought were “blockbusters” were ruined with unforgiving branches and tree limbs ruining many opportunities. While I was getting frustrated, I looked behind myself and realized I was in the perfect place for my best chance at quality material. I cleared an area for me to set up shop and took this photo.
